30 dams make shortlist in Australia

A ministerial task forced led by Agriculture Minister Barnaby Joyce has presented the list to Prime Minister Tony Abbott for review. Included in the shortlist are both new dams and plans to expand existing sites in Western Australia, Queensland, New South Wales and Tasmania.

As part of its federal campaign, the Coalition said it would look to build more dams to help support the growth of the agricultural and mining sectors in the country, and boost regional economies.

The Federal cabinet is expected to review the report over the next few weeks, with Prime Minister Abbott making the final decision on which projects to support
