ABB gets Tapovan Vishnugad contract

The company is to supply transformers to the 520MW (4 x 130MW) project, which is being developed in the Indian state of Uttarakhand by electric utility National Thermal Power Corp (NTPC).

The value of the contract was not disclosed.

Just over a year and a half ago, local contractor Patel Engineering was awarded a contract by NTPC for the key civils works on the project.

The value of Patel Eng's four-year contract is Rs 428 Cr. (US$87M), and the work includes the surge shaft, penstock, tailrace tunnel, switchyards and the powerhouse.
