ABB to boost power grid for Uttarakhand hydro

The US$34M contract was awarded by Power Transmission Corporation of Uttarakhand Ltd.

The contracts calls for ABB to design, supply, install and commission three substations plus transformers and other power equipment by 2011.

ABB said the substations would help improve the power grid in the region to help meet the growing demand for electricity from renewable resources, including Himalayan hydro power.
