Alliant Energy to sell Southern Hydro

WISCONSIN, US BASED Alliant Energy intends to sell its Australian energy assets including the hydroelectric generator Southern Hydro in Victoria. The company aims to reach final settlement of the sale by 31 March 2003.

Southern Hydro has 10 power stations with 24 turbines in Victoria, with an aggregate capacity of 500MW or 6% of Victoria's total capacity. It purchased the hydro assets owned by Australia's state government of Victoria in 1997 for US$219M.
