Alsons plans major hydro investment in the Philippines

Alsons Renewable Energy Corporation (AREC), a subsidiary of Alsons Consolidated Resources (ACR), is to invest $600 million in hydropower development in the Philippines, with a further $45 million allocated for solar projects.

As part of the investment, the company plans to build a 15MW run-of-river plant on the Siguil River in Maasim, Sarangani, a 40MW hydropower project in Negros Occidental, and a further two hydro projects in Mindanao.

Development work is expected to start over the next couple of years.
