Alstom to work on Kaprun Hauptstufe plant, Austria

Verbund Hydro Power AG has placed an order with Alstom for the renovation of two generators in the Kaprun Hauptstufe hydropower plant in Austria.

The project will extend the service life and also increase the output of the M3 and M4 generators, with commissioning scheduled for April 2016. The Kaprun Hauptstufe power plant is part of a power plant group located in the Kaprun valley near Salzburg, Austria.

The two generators in Hauptstufe Kaprun have a rated power ouptput of 100 MVA each . Currently, the maximum power output of the power plant is 240MW. Following the renovation, the total power output will increase to 270MW.
