Alstom wins contract to equip three Turkey plants

The contract value is approximately Euro100M (US$136.5M) to cover the turbines, generators and other equipment required for the Turkish-Austrian developer's three plants, which have a combined installed capacity of 417MW.

alstom Hydro will design, supply, transport, supervise and commission the seven vertical Francis turbines and generators to be supplied to the three plants - Kavsakbendi, Kopru and Menge - which are to be commissioned over 2010-11. The equipment value is approximately 70% of the overall contract.

Kavsakbendi will have an installed capacity of 183MW (3 x 61MW) and the generators are rated at 66MVA.

The Kopru plant will have an installed capacity of 148MW (2 x 74MW) with generators of 80MVA.

Menge will have a capacity of 86MW (2 x 43MW) and its generators rated at 50MVA.

GES is to deliver the balance of plant and is responsible for the overall installation of the equipment.

alstom Hydro is a joint venture between Alstom and Bouygues.
