Alstom wins supply contract on Itezhi-Tezhi dam, Zambia

As subcontractor for Sinohydro, alstom will supply two 60MW Kaplan turbine and generator units and other equipment including the main inlet valve, governing and exciting system. Alstom is also responsible for supervising site installation and commissioning.

The contract for the entire project was awarded to Sinohydro on a turnkey basis by Itezhi-Tehzi Power Corporation Ltd (ITPC), a joint venture consisting of Indian business group Tata and the state-owned Zambia Electricity Supply Corporation Ltd (Zesco).

To be constructed on the Kafue River in central Zambia, the 120MW Itezhi-Tezhi is due to be completed in 2015.
