Andritz to equip Lysebotn II project, Norway

20 March 2014

Andritz Hydro has won a EUR 40 million order from utility company Lyse Produksjon AS to supply the electromechanical equipment for the new Lysebotn II hydropower station in Norway.

The deal includes two high-pressure Francis turbines with a capacity of 185MW each, two generator units, hydraulic steelwork, and steel linings. Due to the favorable reservoir situation, the generating units for this underground hydropower station are designed for frequent start/stop to optimize energy production.

Lysebotn II will replace the existing Lysebotn hydropower plant and increase the annual energy production by 14% to reach 1.5TWh. Commissioning is scheduled for spring 2018.
