Andritz Hydro has won a number of new orders to equip and refurbish hydro power plants in Africa, Asia and Australasia with a total value of around EUR 115 million.
The company is to equip a new plant in Vietnam, while helping to refurbish plants in South Korea, New Zealand and Malawi.
In Vietnam, VNECO Hoi Xuan Investment and Electricity Construction placed an order for the design, delivery, installation, and commissioning of three 35MW bulb turbines and generators for the new Hoi Xuan hydropower station to be built on the Ma River in northern Vietnam. In addition, Andritz will supply the mechanical and electrical equipment including automation, and the hydraulic equipment.
In South Korea, Andritz is to modernise two diagonal turbine generator sets each with an output of 46.3MW at the Andong hydropower station on the Nakdong River after winning a contract from Korea Water Resources.
Further refurbishment work will be undertaken in New Zealand, with Mighty River Power Ltd having placed an order for the design, delivery, installation and commissioning of three generators, Francis turbine components including model test, and turbine governors for the Aratiatia hydropower station.
In Malawi, Millennium Challenge Account (MCA) has ordered the refurbishment of the 50 year old Nkula A hydropower station, with a total capacity of 38MW, from a consortium headed by Andritz Hydro. The company's scope of supply includes modernization of the intake structures and gates, penstocks, and power house, new turbine runners and non-rotating turbine components, generators, as well as a completely new high-voltage hybrid switching station, the SCADA system, and the related civil work.
All plants are expected to be commissioned within the next three years.
