Austrian and Pakistani governments discuss hydro investment

Pakistan said that it will welcome Austrian investment and facilitate investors in its energy deficient country which has great hydropower potential. Mukhtar explained that his government plans to change the energy mix in order to generate cheaper power and that there are plenty of opportunities for investment in small, medium and run-of-river hydro projects.

Various companies are already working in the Pakistani energy sector Ambassador Wech said, adding that Austrians are interested to invest in the Tarbela-V extension project and other large hydro schemes. He stated that Austrians would also consider the offer for investment in small and medium projects.
