Automation in control

1 January 2002

Westinghouse Process Control, a business of Emerson Process Management, has announced the availability of Ovation 2.1, extending the ability of its Ovation information and control system to solve automation issues facing power plants and water facilities.

'This latest software release clearly illustrates the power of an open architecture system by allowing our customers to take advantage of continuing strides in technology without making cost prohibitive changes to their distributed control systems,' says Ann Pauley, president of Westinghouse Process Control. 'Ovation 2.1 follows the basic philosophy of the open system - provide customers with a path to the newest, most effective technology in the most cost-effective manner.'

HART I/O, Foundation fieldbus, Fast Ethernet, and Scada Server support are among the key enhancements now available with Ovation.

Hart I/O and Foundation fieldbus support directly link the Ovation DCS system to intelligent devices in the field, allowing operators to easily gather information from plant equipment as well as from process control sensors through Emerson Process Management's Asset Management Solutions (AMS) software.
