BC Hydro to use software from Aquatic Informatics

1 May 2012

BC Hydro will be using Aquarius in conjunction with water supply forecasting models that were developed internally. The integration of Aquarius into BC Hydro’s existing enterprise architecture will be implemented using Aquarius’ ability to integrate with OGC (Open Geospatial Consortium) web services and OpenMI interfaces.

“We are pleased to be working with Aquatic Informatics to help us better manage our water supply and forecasting data,” commented Stephanie Smith, Manager, Hydrology & Technical Services, BC Hydro, “Aquarius will enable us to provide more frequent updates to our statistical water supply forecasts, and will improve the traceability and tracking of forecast changes over our existing system.”

In addition to BC Hydro, Aquarius Software has recently been selected by other hydropower companies including Northern California Power Agency and Idaho Power in the US and Sarawak Energy Berhad in Malaysia.
