BHEL to work on Ramman project, India

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) is to set up the hydro generating sets and associated electro-mechanical works for the 120MW Rammam Stage-III in West Bengal after winning a competitive tender from NTPC Ltd.

Located in Darjeeling district of West Bengal, Rammam Stage-III is a run of the river scheme on the river Rammam, a major tributary of river Rangit. The project will feature three hydro generating sets of 40MW capacity each, with Pelton turbines and matching hydro generators.

BHEL's scope of work in the contract includes engineering, procurement, manufacturing and erection and commissioning of hydro generating sets and associated electro-mechanical works, and is to completed within 45 months.

The project's hydro generating sets are to be supplied by BHEL's Bhopal unit, with the transformers and control & monitoring system to be supplied by the company's Jhansi unit and Electronics Division, Bangalore, respectively.
