Bobcat loaders in emergency flood defence work

15 June 2001

Two new high-flow Bobcat 864H compact tracked loaders have helped with emergency flood defence work being carried out by Edmund Nuttall along the river Ouse at Barlby, North Yorkshire in the UK.

The scene of some of the most devastating floods in the UK by the end of 2000, the work at Barlby has been commissioned by the Environment Agency to help safeguard the towns and surrounding areas from flood waters.

The two-month hire contract for the loaders will cover the installation of 400 steel sheet piles along a 4km stretch of the river Ouse and increase the height of the riverbank by up to 0.5m.
