Boralex has expanded its hydroelectric footprint in British Columbia, Canada, with the successful commissioning of the 22MW Jamie Creek run-of-river project.
The project, which took a year to build, is Boralex's first high-head facility (477m) and is covered by a 40-year power sales contract with BC Hydro. The station features two water intakes - a 1.1km bypass line and an 2.6km penstock - which feed its two Pelton turbines.
"After a year of construction, we're proud of the newest addition to our asset portfolio," said Boralex President and CEO Patrick Lemaire. "Boralex has over 20 years experience building and operating hydroelectric assets, which it leveraged to complete this project and will continue leveraging over the asset's lifetime,".
Following the successful commissioning, Boralex now has 36.5MW of hydroelectric power and said it is actively pursuing further development efforts.
