Brascan to buy six Brazillian plants

BRASCAN CORPORATION of Toronto has agreed to buy six power plants in Brazil from Companhia de Forca e Luz Cataguazes Leopoldina for about US$324M. The transaction, which needs to be approved by regulators and by lenders, is expected to close by 28 February. Brascan Energetica will operate the six additional hydro plants, which have a combined capacity of 76MW. The power generated by the facilities is under long term contract with the seller, the company said.
