Brazilian firm to develop small hydro plants

Brazilian engineering firm Koblitz is developing five small hydro plants in the state of Mato Grosso, in association with BK Energia and Enerbax. The plants have a total installed capacity of about 115MW. The cost of completion of the projects is estimated at US$47.9M. The power will be sold to local distribution company Cemat under long term power purchase agreements.

Three of the plants with a total capacity of about 74MW are being built on the Jau river, in partnership with BK Energia. The other two plants are being developed with Enerbrax, a company from Pernambuco state.
