Brazilian Police announce criminal charges following tailings dam disaster

Mining giant Vale and German safety firm Tüv Süd are reportedly facing criminal charges following the deadly collapse of a tailings dam at Feijão mine in the city of Brumadinho, Minas Gerais in January.

According to reports, seven employees from Vale and Six from Tüv Süd have been accused of falsifying documents that related to the structural safety of the dam in safety audits. No Vale directors were reportedly accused.

At least 248 people were killed when the dam collapsed on 25 January 2019.
