Brookfield Renewable Power starts rehab of Glen Ferris project

The 5.5MW project was originally built in 1899. The new rehabilitation project will include overhaul and modernization of the facility’s eight turbine units over a 21-month period. A new access bridge, upgrade of the two powerhouse cranes, the installation of new step-up transformers, generator breakers and controls are also included in the construction.

The project’s construction and engineering team includes D.A. Collins as the General Contractor, and Hatch Engineering as the owner’s engineer, as well as local subcontractors Nitro Electric Company of Nitro, WV, and Danhill Construction of Glen Ferris, WV. D.A. Collins is also contracting local labour, as well as diving, crane and machining services. Thirty construction jobs will be created during the project.
