Business update

• Gems sensors of the US has announced the acquisition of Setra Systems, the US-based designers and manufacturers of capacitance pressure transducers and related devices. Setra's manufacturing and complete service operations will remain as a separate entity in it's Boxborough headquarters.

• EGS (International), the European operating arm of the EGS Group, has purchased a new 557.4m2 office and workshop facility near Farnham, UK. According to the company, the move follows an increase in demand for it's marine survey and environmental monitoring expertise.

• The International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage has announced that three new vice presidents have been elected for the three-year term 2001-2004. The new appointments are Dr. Shigetaka Taniyama of Japan, Ing. Manuel Contijoch Escontria of Mexico and Dr Saeed Nairizi of Iran.
