The Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) has given the go-ahead for the construction of dams which it says will also help protect the 200 residents of the Pic Mobert First Nation from flooding. The project will include the replacement of an existing water control structure owned by MNR.

The MNR says the hydro dams will also preserve cottages and protect recreational values near the White rver. The project was the subject of Open Houses that were held recently in Marathon and White River.
