Canchayllo starts up in Peru

Commercial operation has begun at the 5.3MW Canchayllo hydroelectric project in Peru, Rurelec has announced.

The project is a run of river power plant on the Pachacayo River in the Junin Province of Central Peru. It features two horizontal Francis turbines and three vertical Francis turbines.

Owned by Rurelec's 93% indirect subsidiary Empresa de Generacion Electrica Canchayllo S.A.C, the project received its commercial operations certificate and formally entered service in accordance with its power purchase agreement on 31 December 2014.
