Cavico to build spillway for Da Ban dam, Vietnam

The group said that its subsidiary Cavico Energy Construction had been awarded the approximately US$2.5M contract by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Da Ban dam is 26m high and 348m long, and was built in the 1980s as part of an irrigation project in the Ninh Hoa district, north of Khanh Hoa province.

Work on the 27 month contract involves 160,000m3 of foundation excavation and construction of 9000m3 of concrete walls and apron.

Other recent contracts secured in Vietnam by the group include: a diversion structure and spillway on the Ngan Truoi dam project; extra civil engineering work on the Dak Mi 4 ('Dak My 4') hydro power project; and, diversion tunnels and a cofferdam for the Hua Na hydro project.
