CDRPC supports Mohawk river hydro plan

11 May 2006

GIPA’s proposed 100MW scheme has attracted controversy as it would join an existing 38MW hydro facility, owned by Brookfield Power, at Cohoes Falls. But both companies have reportedly pledged that they will restore the water flow over the falls as part of their plans.

The Mohawk is a river of east-central New York flowing about 225km south and southeast to the Hudson river.

CDRPC is a regional planning and resource centre serving Albany, Rensselaer, Saratoga, and Schenectady counties. The board voted unanimously to back GIPA’s plan.
