Chilean regulator clears EIA for Endesa’s Los Condores project

18 April 2008

The regulator for the Maule region approved the environmental impact assessment (EIA) for the 150MW scheme, which has a budget of US$180M.

Once the project is commissioned, which is scheduled for late 2012, it is to generate 560GWh of electricity per year.

The plant will be built near the town of San Clemente in the Maule region. Water to the plant will be conveyed through approximately 16km of tunnels and pipeline from the Laguna del Maule, a lake-filled caldera in the Talca province that feeds the Maule river.
