China to help fund Ecuador’s Sopladora hydro plant

6 July 2011

According to reports from Bloomberg, the countries will sign the loan agreement in August. The money is expected to fund 85% of the plant’s construction work.

China already has involvement in other hydro schemes in the country. In June last year, the Export-Import Bank agreed to provide a US$1.7B loan to build the 1500MW Coca-Codo-Sinclair project in Ecuador - the country’s largest hydroelectric project.
