A revised supplemental draft environmental assessment drawn up by USBR identifies the ‘Downstream Rock Fish Passage Alternative with Whitewater Features’ as the best option for allowing endangered fish to pass across the Price-Stubb diversion dam near Palisade, Colorado.
Restoring passage above the dam and at two other barriers on the Upper Colorado would, says USBR, open up some 80km of upstream river habitat.
USBR has collaborated with the US Fish and Wildlife Service to develop the environmental assessment, which details five choices in total, including a ‘No Action Alternative.’
A public meeting is to take place in Palisade on 2 June, while written comments are to be emailed to: tstroh@uc.usbr.gov by 18 June.
