Completion delays in India

THE PROJECT MONITORING Division of India's Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation says that the 3x30MW Loktak Downstream Project on the Leimatak river in the state of Manipur has reported a possible additional delay upto 30 months in its commissioning, due to law and order problem in the region. Construction work on the roject has yet to be started. The Project which includes a 64.5m high, 250m long earth dam, a 5.8km long headrace tunnel, and a surface power house is being implemented by the National Hdroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) and was originally scheduled to be completed in June 2006.
