The plant, located on the main flow of the Srepok River in Buon Me Thuot village, Dac Lak Province, is now in the process of being transferred to owner Electricity of Vietnam (EVN).
In December 2003, Cavico Bridge and Tunnel began construction of surge tanks, intakes, the headrace tunnel, and other construction work surrounding the valve house. The work was completed 31 days ahead of schedule, and EVN has successfully tested the project’s two 140MW units during the validation process upon project completion
Staff and equipment used for the Buon Kuop plant will now be reassigned to other civil construction projects currently in progress. In recent months Cavico has been awarded a succession of tunnel contracts on hydro projects in the country, including the the Thuong Kon Tun, Dakdrinh and Da Ban Dam projects.
