Contract awarded for Indonesian hydro plant

Voith Fuji Hydro, a joint venture company of Voith Hydro and Fuji Electric Co, has won a contract to supply major electro-mechanical equipment for the 46.6MW Rajamandala hydroelectric power project in Indonesia.

The run-of-river project, located in West Java Province, will be constructed and operated by PT. Rajamandala Electric Power (REP), an Indonesian IPP company which include PT. Indonesia Power of Indonesia and Kansai Electric Power of Japan as investors. The electricity produced by the project is to be sold to PT. PLN of Indonesia in a 30 year deal.

Main contractor responsible for overall plant engineering and procurement, Hyundai Engineering of Korea, awarded the contract to Voith Fuji to deliver a 46.6MW Kaplan type hydraulic turbine and generator.

Voith Fuji Hydro, based in Kawasaki, has been providing hydropower equipment for Japan and Southeast Asian markets since 1997, and has provided a number of water turbines and generators with various power ranges - from bulb turbines installed at low head/high discharge sites to Pelton turbines at high head locations.
