Could hydro power the Houses of Parliament?

13 September 2022

Hydropower could play a role in providing electricity to the Houses of Parliament in London, UK under plans suggested by Commons Speaker Lindsay Hoyle.

According to news reports, the Speaker has asked experts to consider the feasibility of installing hydroelectric turbines near the Commons terrace, as part of plans to refurbish the Palace of Westminster.

The option has been put forward in a bid to lower the parliamentary estate’s energy costs.
