Critical section of flowing water in circular collector channels

17 September 2004

The paper presents a solution for critical flow section in circular collector channels. Based on the concept of the singular point, the dynamic equation of a spatially varied flow (SVF) is solved using the equations of Chezy and Manning. A set of design curves is proposed for determining critical flow section in an SVF, which is dependent on channel length, tail water depth, roughness, longitudinal bed slope and inflow discharge.
