8 January 2016

China Three Gorges Corporation (CTGC) is to develop the 1100MW Kohala hydropower project in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), the company has announced.

The project, which requires an investment of $2.4 billion, is to be built on the Jhelum River, downstream from Muzaffarabad in PoK. It is seen as a key part of the new China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) venture, which could see the development of a number of new energy projects in the region.
