DBP finances small hydro plant in Oriental Mindoro

26 August 2009

The run-of-river project, being developed by Oriental Mindoro Electric Cooperative, will tap the potential of the Linao Cawaya and Alag Rivers and is expected to generate an average of 19.8GWh of electricity per year.

The project will reduce approximately 11,409 tons of CO2 each year, and will also provide an additional source of income through CDM carbon credits estimated at US$162,502 annually.

The plant will benefit the residents of San Teodoro, Oriental Mindora, a 4th class municipality located in the northwestern part of the province and its neighbouring areas.
