INDIA'S DELHI VIDYUT BOARD (DVB) has signed a power purchase agreement with the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) for the purchase of power from the Central utility's Koldam hydroelectric power project in Himachal Pradesh.

Under the agreement, NTPC, on completion of the project in 2007-2008, will be supplying 87MW of power to DVB at a price to be decided upon by the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission on availability-based tariff norms.

The Koldam project is NTPC's first venture into the hydroelectric power sector with an approved capacity of 800MW. The project is located in Bilaspur district of Himachal and is being set up as a regional power station for the benefit of northern states.
