Diamer Basha Dam being pursued ‘vigorously’ says Wapda

26 June 2020

Construction work is expected to start very soon on the main dam at the 4500MW Diamer Basha project, the Pakistan Water & Power Authority (WAPDA) has said, with machinery and plants already on site.

In a statement, WAPDA said the project is being pursued ‘vigorously’ and that work is progressing well despite the Covid-19 pandemic. Following the award of a construction contract for the project last month to a joint venture of Power China-FWO, mobilisation began on site.

WAPDA said it is committed to completing Diamer Basha Dam Project on schedule by 2028.
