Iberdrola has awarded Portuguese company EFACEC (Energia, Máquinas e Equipamentos Eléctricos, S.A) a EUR 11 million contract to manufacturer and supply transformers for its 1158MW Támega hydroelectric complex.
The contract – awarded following an international competitive tender – covers equipment for the Gouvães, Alto Támega and Daivões power plants being constructed on the Támega River in Portugal.
EFACEC will be responsible for manufacture, supply, installation supervision and start-up of the individual transformers and transformer groups that will provide auxiliary services to the three power plants. Specifically, EFACEC, will construct four three-phase power transformers, with a power of 245MVA and a transformation ratio of 400/15kV, and two transformers for auxiliary service, with a power of 5.6MVA and ratio of 20/15kV, at the Gouvães underground plant. For the Alto Támega Plant it will also manufacture two three-phase power transformers (90 MVA power and ratio of 400/15kV) and two transformers for auxiliary services (2.5MVA, 15/0.42kV). Another two three-phase power transformers (65MVA , 400/15kV) and two transformers for auxiliary services (2.5MVA, 15/0.42kV) will be manufactured for the Daivões Plant.
It is expected these transformers will be commissioned between 2021 and 2023.
