Eglisau contract awarded

12 February 2007

Voith Siemes Hydro Kraftwerkstechnik will deliver seven 6.7MW Kaplan turbines, generators and governors as well as the complete control package as part of the rehabilitation work being carried out at Eglisau, which is owned by Kraftwerke Eglisau-Glattfelden, a subsidiary of Nordostschweizerische Kraftwerke (NOK).

The new Kaplan turbines will replace seven 4.6MW Francis turbines, which started operation between 1915 and 1921. The new turbines will increase flow rate at the scheme from 385m3/sec to 500m3/sec, meaning annual output will raise from 246GWh to 314.5GWh.
