EIB to fund hydro plant in Bosnia

14 April 2014

The European Investment Bank has approved a EUR37.5 million loan to Bosnian utility Elektroprivreda to help fund construction of the 20MW Vranduk hydropower project.

The project is expected to cost a total of EUR75 million. The European Bank for Reconstruction & Development awarded a EUR26 million loan to the project earlier this year, with Elektroprivreda to finance the remainder.

Located in the municipality of Zenica, Vranduk is a run-of-the-river hydropower plant that will operate continuously with a maximum upper water level of 293.50m asl and small water storage reservoir.
