FERC drops California group's case against BPA

2 March 2002

THE FEDERAL ENERGY REGULATORY Commission (FERC) has dismissed a complaint by a California citizen group that claimed Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) and three other firms withheld badly needed electricity during the state's power crisis during 2000/01.

The group accused BPA, Canada's BC Hydro, Powerex Corporation and Mirant Corporation of withholding wholesale power supplies to boost prices during the crisis.

FERC said it dismissed the complaint because the group's 'allegations are vague' and similar issues were decided in the same way by the agency in previous cases.
