First fusegate on Australian dam

12 September 2001

hydroplus Australia is the local holder of a patented technology for fusegates and contracted leading consulting firm, Sinclair Knight Merz to undertake the engineering design and construction supervision for the project.

The system works by placing concrete or steel units onto the spillway sill thus elevating the full supply level of the reservoir.

Most floods simply wash over the top of the units. When exceptionally large floods arrive the units are designed to tip off the spillway to allow more flood water to pass through.
