Free component testing offered for marine renewables

24 March 2015

The European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC), in collaboration with the Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Catapult, is offering free component testing to support the development of wave and tidal energy converters.

Aimed at marine energy developers, component manufacturers and other supply chain companies, the component testing project was launched last month as a means for the industry to gain a better understanding of issues around component reliability to improve performance and ultimately reduce the cost of marine energy.

The project will undertake a programme of analytical testing of components retrieved from marine renewable energy converters which have undergone testing at sea. The project covers any type of component (mechanical or electrical/electronic) that has been used in an operational marine energy converter.

If you would like to take advantage of this opportunity, please complete the online survey by Friday 24th April 2015.
