Frequency domain analysis of concrete gravity dams including hydrodynamic effects

19 March 2004

A previous formulation for the frequency domain analysis of concrete gravity dams is completed by modifying the FE-BE technique to include the effects of hydrodynamic pressures. In this procedure, the dam body is discretised by finite elements, the foundation rock domain with quadratic boundary elements, and the water region by a semi-infinite fluid hyper-element. Based on this method, responses of an idealised triangular dam are studied under different conditions and results are verified using different techniques.
