Full capacity for Three Gorges expected in October

12 September 2011

The Xinhua news agency has reported that the water level will rise 23m from the current 152m as it discharges less water to the lower reaches of the Yangtze. This will be only the second time the dam has reached full capacity since its initial filling in October 2010.

The dam had been discharging water downstream in an effort to combat the worst drought to hit the area in 50 years.
