3 July 2006

In 2002 IMPSA signed a US$62M contract with ELEJOR for the complete electromechanical equipment of the 242MW complex, including two mini hydro plants that make use of the ecological flow required to maintain the natural conditions of the river.

For the hydro power complex, IMPSA designed and manufactured (at its industrial facilities in Mendoza, Argentina) four 61MW Francis turbines, four synchronic generators of 67.6MVA, protection, control, communication and measuring systems, transformer stations and other electromechanical equipment.

IMPSA’s contract included: design, manufacturing, transport, assembly, tests and startup of the power plant. Previous examinations on hydraulic scale models for efficiency, cavitation and over speed, took place at the company’s hydraulics lab in Mendoza.
