20 September 2019

Germany’s Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW) has approved a $46 million loan to the Zambia Electricity Supply Corporation (Zesco) that will be used to rehabiliate and expand the Chishimba hydroelectric plant on the Chishimba Falls in Kasama District, Zambia.

According to a report in the North Africa Post, the funds will be used to upgrade existing structures at the 6MW project, as well as build a new 15MW power station.

Chishimba was originally commissioned in 1959, with an upgrade project completed in 1971.
