The first new cable will be used by Atlantis Resources for its tidal turbine later in the year and the second new cable will be used for Voith Hydro Ocean Current Technologies in advance of its turbine installation next year.

The 130m cable laying vessel, CS Sovereign, is continuing to work on fitting new cable ends to existing cables at the wave and tidal test sites following which it will be conducting ROV surveys at various EMEC sites. The cable work has been sponsored by the UK government’s Department of Energy & Climate Change.
