Gravity Renewables buys New York hydro plant

20 May 2019

Small hydropower owner and operator Gravity Renewables has acquired the 10.5MW Dahowa hydroelectric project lon the Batten Kill River in the town of Greenwich, Washington County, New York.

The project traces its roots back to a concrete dam located 3.5 miles from the confluence of the Batten Kill and Hudson Rivers and was originally built in 1925. An earlier hydropower project was replaced with the current powerhouse and a 10.5MW single unit turbine in 1991.

A 2014 event rendered the plant inoperable from early 2014 until early 2016 when repairs and upgrades were completed, and the project returned to safe operations.
