The state government's dam safety committee says the structure located upstream of the town of Grenfell on Emu Creek has inadequate spillway capacity to deal with a major flood.
Weddin Shire Council, owner of the dam, has lodged a funding application with the New South Wales Government to widen the spillway and raise the dam wall.
